THE TOUR OF THE MONASTERIES AND CHURCHES FROM THE SNAGOV AREA

The Snagov area - the green jewel of Bucharest(as Budapest has the BalatonLake and Paris has Bois de Boulogne). A large base of reference points, archaeological remains, historical, cultural, social and mundane events (potential which could be valued with assistance from the EU).

Route presentation:
A bus trip around the Bucharest surroundings, together with the guide comments, having as major objectives 3 very different old monasteries:: the first is a nuns' monastery, the second is isolated on an island (a Father Superior place), and the third is a monks' monastery; all three are located at less than 40 km from Bucharest, in very picturesque and strategic sites (on the banks of some lakes and on islands, with forests nearby - locations which in the past have been very carefully selected by the founders: isolated, well defended and relying on local resources which could provide great autonomy).
Caldarusani_01.jpgHere during the various hours in the day religious services are being held and the routine activities of the Orthodox Church are being run. There are 2 museums which can be visited, holding numerous old religious items, with historical and ethnographical relevance.

 

Along the route you will see a great diversity of images; you pass through villages and localities which are undergoing changes, various types of roads, various landscapes, the communist changes brought about on the Romanian traditions and village

Optionally (+2,5 hours) another ManastireaSnagov_01.jpg3 churches can be included in the Snagov area route, namely the following: the CiofliceniChurch, the GhermanestiChurch, and the SnagovVillageChurch. Each one of these religious shrines has a special architecture and history and they have been built during different cultural periods, beginning with Middle Ages and ending with the Brancoveanu period.

 

Duration: 7 hours (beginning from: 09:00 a.m., optionally 11:00, 13:00)
Price: 68 EURO or 240 RON / person. It Includes:
- guide for the whole duration of the trip
- bus transport Bucharest -Tiganesti - Snagov - Caldarusani - Bucharest (around 2.5 hours)
- entrance tickets for the 3 monasteries
- water transport to the Vlad Tepes Monastery - by boat (around 2 x 20 min)
- refreshment and lunch (at the restaurant or on the boat)

Group: minimum 20 persons - maximum 45 (buses with 24 and 45 seats). Call for smaller groups.

 

The bookings will be done with a minimum of 2 weeks in advance. The payment will be done in advance for the full amount.
